How to clean SPC flooring without damaging the finish

Everyday cleaning takes minutes. The mistakes that dull a floor take years to undo.

Sweep before you mop

Grit is abrasive. Dragging a wet mop across an unswept floor grinds fine particles into the wear layer, which is what dulls a finish over time.

Use less water than you think

SPC is waterproof, but standing water can work into the joints and under skirting. A damp mop, wrung until it barely drips, cleans just as well.

What to avoid

  • Steam mops, which force moisture into the locking system
  • Bleach and ammonia, which strip the surface treatment
  • Abrasive pads or powder cleaners

A pH-neutral floor cleaner and a microfibre mop handle almost everything. For scuffs, a dry melamine sponge lifts marks without chemicals.
